Healthy Soil Leads to a Beautiful Lawn

Growing a nice lawn or turf area is not extremely difficult, but requires an understanding that the health of your lawn depends on the soil quality. Without a healthy soil you will get disappointing results, therefore it is important to repair your soil and keep it healthy. In order to grow a healthy lawn you need to understand what your soil needs. Check your soil pH levels and soil compaction readings, as these two have a big impact over the lawn or turf grass health. Organic matter in the soil is another essential factor. That’s why it is good to leave lawn clippings on the lawn after mowing as it feeds the soil.

Repair your Lawn Once and For All

Spray the lawn with Ecoworm Humate to inoculate the soil with microbes and soluble nutrients. The microbes contained in the vermicompost extract will start breaking down the organic matter into soluble plant food and work on the soil by breaking up soil structure and eliminating compaction. Soil microbes live in the pore spaces between soil particles. They are the ones that open up the soil profile to allow air and water to enter deeper into the soil.

This will allow water and air to easily enter the soil profile, and turf grass roots to penetrate deeper into the soil profile sourcing nutrients and water that were earlier out of reach. If you rebuild your soil health, your turf symptoms will vanish and you will end up having a lush beautiful lawn that is resistant to both pest and disease attacks.

Application

When and how often you should feed your lawn can depend on the type of  lawn you have and the condition it is in. If you only want or need a basic fertiliser treatment, apply Ecoworm Humate in spring at the rate of 20L/ha (8L/acre).

For a more rounded option, what we and most lawn professionals recommend is feeding the lawn on a regular basis.

Spring: Apply 20L/ha (8L/acre) in growth times such as mid-spring (often late March to April). It all depends on how the weather is warming up but the best guide would be to wait until you have cut the lawn a couple of times first.

Summer: Repeat the application by applying 10-20L/ha (4-8L/acre) between 10 to 14 weeks after the spring treatment.

Autumn: September should be your target month for autumn application. This can vary between the regions, but wait until the rains start in late August or September and then feed. Depending on where you are, sometimes this can mean the end of August, and sometimes early October. Apply 10-20L/ha (4-8L/acre).

Ecoworm Humate can be applied using normal agricultural spray equipment, with increased jet size so that there is no harm for the microorganisms during the application. Use low pressure when applying. Mix 10-20L/ha (4-8L/acre) with water according to the calibration on your sprayer. The water rate is not critical. It acts as a carrier to distribute 10L-20L/ha (4-8L/acre) across the lawn.

Apply Ecoworm Humate during the coldest part of the day, such as early morning or late afternoon, so that UV rays do not affect the beneficial biology. When it is raining, the growth stimulant can be applied at any time, as the micro-organisms will use this available moisture to colonise the plant and soil, while being protected from the UV rays.

Ecoworm Humate is also compatible with other fertilisers. It is environmentally friendly and does not contaminate water courses.

WARNING! Never apply a food source into your Ecoworm Humate drum!

Ecoworm Humate contains living microbes, and we have managed to get the biology into dormancy, which allows us to store the living product. If you let water or any source of food enter the container such as fish or molasses, the microorganisms will wake up, consume all the oxygen inside the drum and then die, leaving you with stinky useless liquid. Make sure water and food activator is only added to the spray tank or watering can, not to the drum, otherwise any leftover extract will be wasted.

Storage

Ecoworm Humate can be stored for years if out of direct sunlight, and in rather cool place. One of our company’s benefits is that with our developed technology we are able to store our fertiliser without the microbes dying. The micro-organisms in Ecoworm Humate fall asleep and wake up once they come in contact with oxygen. This is one the biggest problems of our competitors, whose aerated worm teas and compost teas must be used within hours of brew aeration finishing.

Don't just take our word for it..

“I’m just a keen amateur lawn enthusiast who is learning on the ‘mow’ picking up tips and inspiration from one week to the next. I came across Ecoworm Humate product by chance and have applied it for approx 2 years. I did a full lawn renovation as shown on my instagram page and before I sowed the seed and regularly through the early growing stages I sprayed with Ecoworm Humate the result is in the above picture. I continue to spray every 4 weeks which I firmly believe contributes to healthy soil and a great looking lawn.”
